    Jordi Sierra i Fabra

    Jordi Sierra i Fabra was born in Barcelona in 1947. He published his first book in 1972, has written more than five hundred books, won nearly 40 literary awards on both sides of the Atlantic and has been translated into 30 languages. Twice nominated for the Nobel Prize in youth literature for Spain, the Anderesen Prize, and another two to Andersen Lindgren. In 2007 he was awarded with Spanish National Prize for Literature; the Ibero American as a whole of his production, in 2013, the Gold Medal of Fine Arts in 2017 and St.George Cross in 2018. Sales of his books exceeded twelve million copies in 2017.

    In 2004 he created the Jordi Sierra i Fabra Fundation, in Barcelona, and the Jordi Sierra i Fabra Taller de Letras Foundation, in Medellin, Colombia, as the culmination of a career and his ethical and social commitment. Since then, a young writer under the age of eighteen has been awarded with a prize. In 2010, his foundations received the IBBY-Asahi Prize for The Promotion of Reading. In 2012 the online literary magazine was inaugurated, free, www.lapaginaescrita.com and in 2013 the Cultural Center of the Foundation in Barcelona, Medal of Honor of the city in 2015.
